How to make a good recording

Record 30–60 seconds; early morning is when most birds sing.
Stand a few metres back from rushing water: in our tests, water as loud as the birds hid about one call in six.
Hold the phone still and point it at the bank vegetation, not the water.
Talking is fine: voices are found and muted before anything is shared.
